Numerus clausus

Applicants need to have a bachelor's degree in a relevant academic field or an equivalent foreign degree with good or excellent grades (German equivalent 2.5 or better). An anticipatory application during the final degree phase is possible.

Formal application is followed by a 30-minute interview on Monday, 7th August 2017. Applicants with a final grade better than 1.9 are exempted from the interview.

Language requirements

As courses in the master's programme Cultural Studies of the Middle East are given in both English and German, proficiency in English at the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) C1 level AND in German at the CEFRL B2 level are required.

Additionally, proficiency in Arabic, Persian, OR Turkish (equivalent to at least 30 ECTS worth of courses), OR Hebrew (at least 20 ECTS) is required.

English language skills may be verified retroactively during the first semester. A certificate of qualification for matriculation (Abiturzeugnis or equivalent) may serve as proof of proficiency in English.
